Hold on Tightly, Let go Lightly
Who Am I?
"Hold on Tightly, Let Go Lightly" is a phrase that has guided me throughout my theatrical journey. I first encountered it at the Yale Summer Conservatory for Actors, where the program’s director, Blake Hackler, introduced it on our very first day.
Before we even learned each other's names, Blake used this phrase to highlight the beauty of each individual's unique approach to the craft of theater. As theater artists, we draw from diverse performances, training, and personal experiences.
However, what resonates with each of us is deeply personal, and it’s crucial to hold on tightly to what works for us while letting go lightly of what doesn't. Everyone’s path in theater is different, and this is mine—my way of acting, directing, playwriting, and loving theater. It’s not the only way, but I hope that by sharing my experiences on this platform, I can offer insight into my unique approach to the art of theater.
